When the Tables are Turned

Ooooh snap. Time to call Maury!

“Joe. I’m pregnant. It isn’t yours.”

“…How? How could this happen. HOW!?”

“I… I don’t know. It can’t be.”

Joe overturned the table in his haste to rise, and ran through the door, trying to ignore the plaintive cries within.

Everything he’d worked for… now at risk. What should he do? What COULD he do? One thing. One thing only. There was just no way he could stay married to her. How could he cut it off, but quietly?

In his wandering, a terrifying figure stopped him short. Was he to be robbed as well??

“Joseph. Relax. She’s still a virgin.” Joseph stared, and the angel smiled. “Yeah.”

FLASH! It’s Flash Friday, the day when Seeking New Earth authors write short stories up to 1000 words (“flash fiction”) or 110 words (“microfiction”). Both are sure to invigorate the imagination and stimulate the synapses. Did you like what you read? Want to explore the story some more? Or maybe you want to try your own hand at some flash fiction? 1. The picture at the beginning was appropriately misleading! I’ve read the story done from this perspective before, so it didn’t work for me as much — but that’s more because of my experience. I suspect for an “average reader” who doesn’t chomp up on “modern retellings of Bible stories,” this story would work very well!
