“Well, this is boring.” Malachi slipped a flask from his coat pocket. “Need something to tide you over?”
The woman beside him demurred. “I find travel by starcoach ever so exciting.”
“Have it your way, lady.” Malachi toasted and took a swig.
His body stiffened. His blood slowed. The woman could see his breath. Frost formed on his eyes.
Four hours later, the astral steeds snorted as the coachman pulled back on the reigns.
Malachi blinked as his body began to thaw. He shook his head when he was able. He tossed a lopsided grin to the woman. “Cryogenics in a bottle has saved me many a boring voyage.”
