Aftermath: Clean-Up

The final alien cruiser burst into flames as Jalima blasted the core. Her fighter dodged through wreckage and shot out the other side of the explosion. Cheers erupted in her earbuds.

“You did great, kid!” Piotr congratulated. “You saved us!”

Jalima glowed.

Three months later, Jalima did not glow.

The jury foreman eyed her as he read the statement, “Jalima Dareth, we find you guilty of mass dumping and littering. We suggest that you be sentenced to community service.”

Jalima shook her head. Sure, she was responsible for destroying countless alien craft bent on destroying the earth. Did she have to be the one to clean up the mess?
