“I don’t take cash.”
“But I need the stuff.” Darrin’s arm twitched. “Come on, man. I’m tweaking here.”
“You know what I take.” The Dealer showed all his shiny teeth.
Darrin closed his eyes. “It’s my last one. I can’t give you that.”
“Once you give it to me, you’ll never miss it.”
Darrin’s well-bitten lip trembled. His arm spasmed. He groaned in pain. “Fine. Anything. I just need. Please.”
The Dealer stabbed a needle into the base of Darrin’s neck. The memories floated out of him.
He whispered, “Goodbye, Carey.”
The Dealer handed over a cylinder of white liquid. “Take with care, my friend. Your payment has been made.”
