Flash Fiction: A Productive Student

He sat under the tree.

“Paul, what are you doing?” Mrs. Clayton asked.

He shrugged.

“Paul, you need to go play. Choose a sport.” She glanced at her cell.

“I don’t want to.”

“If you’re not going to play, access a school app.”


“You can’t do nothing.”

“Mrs. Clayton, I don’t want to do anything.”

The teacher wrinkled her nose. “Go to the principal’s office and tell him what you’ve been doing! People pay taxes to keep you kids busy! Honestly, you kids think you can waste time doing nothing!” She rolled her eyes as she turned to her cell and walked away.
